Frequently Asked Questions

Contact Greenlite Support

Contact the Greenlite team if you have questions about your connected bulbs. The FAQ below contains answers to the most commonly asked questions.

No. Greenlite smart lightbulbs can only be controlled via Wi-Fi connections.

This is usually a sign that the bulb cannot connect to your wireless network.

  • Confirm that your lightbulb is powered on.
  • Make sure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  • Reset the device to Pairing mode by turning off your bulb for 10 seconds then turning it ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON at 2-second intervals.
  • Make sure you are using the right Wi-Fi password.
  • Make sure your device is close enough to your router to receive a clear signal.
  • Check your router configuration:
    • If you have a dual-band router, select the 2.4Ghz band (sometimes, dual-band routers will only identify the 5Ghz network – When faced with this situation, select the network without “5Ghz” in its name)
    • Setup the router security as WPA2-PSK, authorization type as AES and make sure the wireless mode is not set to 11n only.
    • If multiple (usually more than 10) devices are connected to the same router, try disconnecting a few devices and pairing again.

If your device is set to pairing mode and you are still unable to connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, try connect your smart device using AP Mode(link at the top right corner of the connection screen).

AP Mode will allow you to connect your smart bulb to the Greenlite app by detecting the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network if you are on a mixed frequency channel. (Broadcasting both 2.4GHz & 5GHz under 1 network name or SSID)

AP Mode:

  1.  Power on your device. Turn it OFF after 10 seconds.
  2. (Turn OFF – Turn ON) 3-5 times
  3. When your device is flashing rapidly (x2 times per second), proceed to the next step.
  4. (Turn OFF – Turn ON) and repeat x3 times.
  5. Once the light is slowly flashing, your device is now ready to be paired in AP Mode.

Some modern “mesh” routers will only offer one channel that even AP Mode cannot connect to. In these rare cases, you can configure your router to offer a separate 2.4Ghz band or create seperate name for each band.

Here are a few guides for some of the most popular routers offered by US Internet Service Providers (ISPs):

Some routers from manufacturers including Plume and Arris have been known to cause constant problems with connected devices (which always use the 2.4Ghz band). If you have one of these problematic devices, you may want to consider buying inexpensive Wi-Fi range extenders such as this one.

No, after configured the smart bulb successfully, we can control it directly from your mobile device over Wi-Fi. No extra device is required to control the smart bulb.

EZ Mode:

  1. Power on your device. Turn it OFF after 10 seconds.
  2. (Turn OFF – Turn ON) 3-5 times
  3. When your device is flashing rapidly (x2 times per second) it is now ready to be paired.

Yes. Once a bulb is activated, it connects to the Greenlite Cloud and can therefore be controlled from anywhere in the world via the Greenlite application.
